Young Leaders of the

Americas Initiative

Funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and implemented by IREX in partnership with Global Ties Arizona, the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellowship Program is the flagship program for emerging entrepreneurs and business leaders from the Western Hemisphere.

During their four-week stay in Arizona, YLAI fellows engage in various program initiatives with local businesses and organizations, building their networks through community events and engagements. The fellowship supports their growth as young entrepreneurs by fostering cross-cultural partnerships, providing networking opportunities, and offering cultural experiences. They return home equipped with new knowledge connections and resources to make a greater impact in their communities.

Interested in becoming a Fellow Placement Organization?

As a Fellow Placement Organization (FPO) for the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI), you'll play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean. FPOs are carefully matched with fellows whose businesses closely align with the mission and operations of your organization here in Phoenix, ensuring a meaningful and mutually beneficial partnership.

Throughout the course of their fellowship, YLAI fellows immerse themselves in your business from Monday through Thursday, learning about small and local business practices. They bring their expertise and fresh perspectives, creating a collaborative environment that fosters an enriching exchange of knowledge and skills between your team and these dynamic entrepreneurs.

We invite local organizations with a vested interest in global business practices and cultural exchange to apply to become an FPO for the May 2025 fellowship program. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of international business leaders while gaining invaluable insights and strengthening ties with the global community.
